The Yvonne McCalla Foundation Incorporated (YMF Inc.) was established in February 2007 by the daughter of Yvonne McCalla, Mrs. Debra N. Marshall, to help raise awareness amongst the minority community about the devastating effects of breast cancer. YMF Inc. provides educational, empowerment seminars, and conducts community outreach on the importance of prevention and early breast cancer detection. YMF Inc. also provides scholarship monies to minority women who are pursuing an education in nursing.

On August 12, 2006, Yvonne M. McCalla lost a courageous 1 ½ year battle to breast cancer. Yvonne dedicated her life to public health. Yvonne worked as a Registered Nurse on the Oncology Unit at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center attending to the medical needs of many cancer patients.

The Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from the medical and private sectors; President and Founder, Debra N. Marshall, MSW; Vice President, Desiraee Holt, MS; Treasurer; Debbie Brooks-Wynter; MBA; Vivian Arrindell, BSRN, MPH; Celeste Pouncy, MSW; Fatima Scipio, Cecilia Dallis-Ricks.

YMF Inc. Advisory Board members consist of Dr. Michelle C. Azu, MD, Breast Surgical Oncologist, Mary Searight, and legal counsel, Carl L. Marshall, Esq.

Over the years, YMF Inc. has received repeated recognition for the work that they are doing in the New Jersey community from New Jersey State Governor Jon Corzine, Senator Sandra B. Cunningham, Member of the New Jersey Senate 31st District, Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Association of Black Women Lawyers (ABWL) to name a few.
